Mom Life

Who would have thought you can increase your milk supply by adding simple ingredients to recipes?? I never did, but yes it’s true and yes it definitely does work. If you are here then you are sitting in the same boat as I was a few months back.

As a full time working mother I found it very difficult to find the time to pump out at work as the days would get so busy, sometimes I never even had a lunch time, this in return caused my milk supply to drop as it would be a full 10 hours without emptying my breasts. If you are anything like me you always work towards your goals and do everything in your power to succeed, my goal is to reach 1 year of breastfeeding (no formula) so I decided to find the time, even if it was a full 10 minutes to pump, but still due to not emptying the breast out as regularly as I should my supply was not increasing.

I came up with the easiest, fastest lactation recipe ( even non-bakers can attempt this one), just by adding these main key ingredients.

Prep time: 10 min
Cook time: 20 min
Total time: 30 min

Secret ingredients:

  • Brewers yeast
  • Flaxseed powder
  • Fenugreek

Per muffin:
Half a quarter teaspoon of each (1/8 teaspoon)
Whole batter:
1 Tablespoon of  each

empty contents of your easy mix muffin packet in a large bowel, I used vanilla, but you could use any flavor you like.

Your easy mix will indicate what is needed to add, simply follow the directions. In my mix I needed two eggs, milk and oil. Mix together the wet ingredients and add to dry mix.

Beat your mix well, eliminating any lumps that might have formed. If you are making the muffins for yourself only you could go ahead and add the secret ingredients now to your mix. I am dividing the mix between myself and my family ( see steps below)

Go ahead and spoon the mix into a muffin tray. If you have already entered your secret ingredients you can skip step 5.

If you are sharing your muffin batch with your partner or kids then this is the easiest way to add your secret lactation ingredients. Add your brewers yeast, flaxseed powder and fenugreek as shown in picture and mix in with fork.

Add any topping you like or leave plain. I have added chocolate to my plain vanilla muffins, it will also help to determine which muffins are yours and which are your family’s. Place in oven and bake until golden (follow your easy mix instructions)

Enjoy a muffin every morning OR evening with a glass of milk or a cup of rooibos tea (remember caffeine drops milk supply).
These muffins can also be stored in the freezer, wrap each muffin individually in some cling wrap and place in freezer bags. Take one out when needed, microwave for a few seconds and enjoy.

Can be kept in freezer for 3 months.
